Sonth or dried ginger is a perennial herbaceous plant. These are used as a spice, food & flavorings & in medicine. Sonth ki chutney is a popular Indian recipes and holds an important place with Indian snacks like Samosa, Kachori, & many other such preparations. Try this at home with your favorite snacks.


Ingredients:

• 120 gms whole Amchoor (dry mango piece)
• 250 gms Gur (jaggery)
• 1 teaspoon red chili powder( lal mirchi)
• 3 teaspoons salt(namak)
• 1 teaspoons ground spices (garam masala)
• 1½ teaspoons dry ginger powder (sonth)
• 1 teaspoon black salt (kala namak)
• 1 teaspoon white cumin seed powder



How to make sonth chutney or sonth:

1. First of all soak the amchoor overnight in 4 cups of water.
2. Then boil it in the same water in which it was soaked on low fire until tender.
3. Now pass through a sieve, add a little water every now & then till it is of pouring consistency.
4. At the end add ground spices, dry ginger, red chili powder, jaggery & white cumin seed powder & salt and mix well.
5. Serve with papari & sprinkle black salt. It is sufficient for 12 persons.
