The Polling for Delhi assembly elections 2008 started on a low key note on Saturday morning. With the Mumbai terror stand-off coming to an end, the polling picked up as people left their TV sets to move out to vote.

Polling in Delhi startedat 8 a.m. on a rather sluggish pace but slowly picked up after an hour as voters started coming out after the news of Mumbai nightmare coming to an end.

To make the Delhi Assembely election smooth and trouble free, nearly 52,000 security personnel have been deployed in the capital of India.

Of the total 10,993 polling stations, more than 1,500 have been declared sensitive and hypersensitive.

Political parties including the Congress and the BSP have fielded their candidates on all the 69 seats. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is contesting 68 seats. The Nationalist Congress Party has fielded 15 candidates while the RJD is contesting for 10 seats in the Delhi elections 2008.
